Brother Lawson,
It is more beautiful than anything you could ever imagine. The people are so nice here and they are always so happy to see and talk to us. The MTC is pretty sweet. There are only 86 people here, so that is really nice. You get to know everyone on a personal basis.
The food is all new for me, and yes, I eat enough. haha They said that in the field, you wont get fed as much.
So get this, my companion....he is Canadian!! From Alberta. I should have known that would happen. That is just my luck. It is annoying that the keyboards here are different, so I do not know where the apostrophe is. lol After we are done emailing, we are allowed to go shopping. I am pretty excited about that. The city is way awesome. There is always someone doing something. It is real busy. We are constantly doing stuff from 6:45-11:30.
The hardest part so far is the language. It is tough because everyone here just took it in school and I have not really done that in like four years. But, the Lord gives us challenges so that we can persevere and grow in our progression and in our testimony. Like my good friend Elder Lawson said...there is no growth in the comfort zone, and there certainly is no comfort in the growth zone!
On that note, I am growing like crazy! haha The plane ride was super tiring...I did not really sleep at all, but we got here right at dawn and I got some cool pictures of the Andes! It is the end of Winter here. Most days start off in the 40s and it gets to the 70s. Very nice for me! haha All of the Elders here are super cool. There is only one Elder that is older than me, so I am kind of considered one of the old men. haha
I did learn that Santiago South is pretty much the ghetto, at least from what I have been told. I am super excited for that though! The people will definitely be super humble and looking for guidance in life. The stuff here is pretty much all the same price. (Sad Face) The MTC has a lady that does the laundry for us, so that is pretty nice. For some reason, all of our stuff has black marks on it, so I am going to need all new shirts after I leave the MTC. They told us that in the field, we will have to hang our clothes on a line to dry them. Kinda going back to my roots with that! haha.
Shoutout to Elders Arroz, Wood. LOLI did learn that Santiago South is pretty much the ghetto, at least from what I have been told. I am super excited for that though!
